Sarah Carrigan

Olympic Gold Medallist - Athens 2004

Sara Carrigan is only the second and youngest ever Australian woman to win gold in a road race at an Olympics Games. Taking gold in Athens in 2004 has been Sara's life long dream. Since taking up competitive cycling at the age of 15 in 1996, Sara has demonstrated a passion to win and take the ultimate prize in sport - Olympic Gold.

Only 24 years of age, Sara lives and trains on the Gold Coast having migrated from Gunedah in northern New South Wales. Sara has put her Bachelor of Education Studies on hold to prospect for gold and is currently adjusting her sights for a crack at Chinese Gold in Beijing.

While the world has only just come to know Sara through her magnificent 'gold' achievement in Athens 2004, Sara is no stranger to winning. She has been the Australian Female Road Cyclist of the Year in both 2002 and 2003 as well as attaining a long list of sporting accomplishments.

Sara is now sharing her dream with others through public speaking by providing a frank and extraordinary account of her journey "From Gunedah to Gold", and what qualities are needed in business and in life to become the ultimate victor.
